The fertile alluvia of Vaunage have enabled crops to be grown for millennia. These crops were ground by craftsmen using rollers, most often made of sandstone. The first \u201cmillstones\u201d were rectangular. The sandstone was replaced with basalt. Later, the millstones became circular, enabling them to rotate. However, these millstones were still operated manually. In Vaunage, the traces of the first crop came from La Liqui\u00e8re (to the N\/NE of Calvisson). It was wheat.
